About the Role
Blank Street is on the hunt for a dynamic Accounting Manager to lead the charge in building out our UK Accounting capabilities. Blank Street would count on you to strengthen our financial foundation and take our Finance department to the next level. As our Accounting Manager, you’ll be a key player in keeping Blank Street’s finances solid and supporting both our Field and HQ teams. You’ll work across departments, roll up your sleeves, and make magic happen. This role is all about ownership, impact, and driving change—qualities we value in every member of the Blank Street team. What You’ll Own
1. Building Gold-Standard Reporting
- Own production of timely, precise, and UK GAAP-compliant financial statements, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Design and implement rock-solid accounting policies and controls
- Lead external audits with confidence, acting as the expert navigator through regulatory requirements and financial best practices
2. Powering Financial Operations
- Oversee and refine essential financial operations—including AP, payroll, and general ledger—to ensure smooth, seamless processes
- Drive a flawless month-end and year-end close
- Identify gaps, eliminate inefficiencies, and introduce best-in-class processes that elevate financial operations.
3. Enhancing Financial Strategy
- Dive deep into financial data, uncovering insights t0 drive better business decisions and long-term growth
- Tackle complex accounting situations, ensuring the right financial strategies & policies are in place
- Partner with teams across the business to refine financial processes, making every function leaner, faster, and smarter
4. Shaping Credibility and Connection
- Assist with finance and key stakeholders—both internal and external—ensuring alignment, clarity, and strong partnerships
- Provide hands-on operational support to leadership, offering expert guidance on accounting matters
- Champion best practices in financial controls, ensuring the company’s financial integrity remains rock-solid
Who You Are
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Masters Degree preferred. CPA / ACA / ACCA accredited.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably from a Big 4 accounting/audit firm and retail or hospitality environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently, own deliverable timelines, and communicate solutions effectively, while fostering cross-functional collaboration and a team-oriented mindset.
- Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system.
- Deep technical accounting experience and a command of UK GAAP accounting principles and procedures, including intercompany transactions and consolidations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite of products, particularly Excel (VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables at a minimum).
- Nice-to-have qualities include: familiarity with US GAAP, experience working in Coupa.
