The Role
As a Senior Cybercrime Researcher at Flare, you will be at the forefront of cybercrime intelligence, diving deep into the dark corners of the internet to uncover threats before they impact our clients. You'll leverage Flare's cutting-edge platform to conduct original research, track threat actors, and produce actionable intelligence that directly informs our product development and client protection strategies. This role combines hands-on technical investigation with strategic research leadership and thought leadership in the cybersecurity community.
Your purpose and impact
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to become Flare's primary authority on cybercrime trends, threat actor behavior, and dark web intelligence. You will:
- Conduct deep-dive investigations into cybercriminal activities across dark web marketplaces, forums, chatrooms, and anywhere else cybercriminals congregate
- Engage with Flare’s community of thousands of cyber threat intelligence and security specialists
- Produce high-quality, original research reports based on intelligence gathered through Flare's platform
- Present research findings at virtual cybersecurity conferences, webinars, and industry events
- Collaborate with product teams to enhance Flare's threat detection capabilities based on emerging threats
- Build and maintain relationships with law enforcement, industry peers, and threat intelligence communities
- Develop threat actor profiles and attribution analysis for major cybercrime campaigns
- Monitor emerging cybercrime trends and provide strategic recommendations to product and customers
- Contribute to Flare's thought leadership through blog posts, whitepapers, and media interviews
You'll be a perfect fit if
- You have 5+ years of hands-on experience in cybercrime research, threat intelligence, or digital forensics
- You're deeply familiar with cybercrime ecosystems, including its various forums, chat rooms, and underground marketplaces
- You have significant experience investigating dark web threat actors, and their TTP’s
- You possess exceptional research and analytical writing skills with a portfolio of published reports
- You're comfortable navigating potentially dangerous online environments while maintaining operational security
- You have experience with OSINT collection, data analysis techniques, and threat intelligence tooling
- You can translate complex technical findings into actionable intelligence for diverse audiences
Location: Remote within the United States or Canada (minimal travel required)
