About the role
The Public Policy Team plays a very special role in our mission to fight complexity to empower people. It represents Nu before government officials, Congress and regulators to give our perspective on financial legislation and regulation; work with the business and product teams to understand our growth strategies and successfully support Nu's operations; design and propose public policy solutions to major regulatory challenges of the sector; and elaborate strategies to position Nu in public debates. Our team is actively looking for opportunities to improve financial regulation that will allow more companies like Nu to offer digital financial products and services.
You will be responsible for
- Support the Policy team in shaping and implementing the overall Public Policy strategy.
- Develop and execute stakeholder mappings, engagement plans, and advocacy strategies.
- Perform regulatory analysis (understand laws and secondary regulations as well as general rules for financial institutions) and identify opportunity areas for reform to support Nu’s growth.
- Identify legislative initiatives and regulatory changes that could impact Nu, propose and execute mitigation strategies.
- Support product teams identifying and addressing regulatory challenges and policy needs.
- Maintain and develop relations with relevant stakeholders in Brazil. Engage with key regulators, executive branch officials, representatives, and, where appropriate, local governments to advocate for public policies.
- Maintain and develop good relations with peer companies and represent Nubank at industry associations and coalition meetings.
We are looking for a person who has
- Bachelor's Degree in Law, International Relations, Political Science, Economics and related fields. A Master's and/or Phd in Public Policy or related areas is a differential.
- 7 or more years of experience as a policy/government affairs professional, with previous experience of engaging with policy stakeholders.
- Understanding of the political process in Brazil and congressional activity, as well regulations and policy making. Able to identify threats and opportunities in legislative or regulatory initiatives.
- Support the creation of clear and concise written and visual materials advocating Nubank’s positions.
- Ability to manage simultaneous complex projects, excellent problem-solving skills; and interpersonal communication and relationship skills.
- English language proficiency.
- Experience in the payments industry is a differential.
Our Nu Way of Working
Our work model is hybrid and has cycles that can be from two to three months according to the business of expertise. For every eight or twelve weeks of remote work, one will be at the office. Check more information here.
