About the team:

The Credit Risk Squad is part of the 2nd line of Defense. It is responsible for managing and overseeing our organization's credit risk function by providing independent oversight, review & challenge of the risk takers, defined as 1st line of Defense. As a second line, the Credit Risk team monitors credit risk exposure, conducts credit risk assessments, provides guidance and support to the credit areas that make credit decisions, and supervises all the regulatory needs and demands related to credit.

Typical responsibilities assigned to you might include

  • Map all the regulatory needs and gaps to implement actions to ensure Nubank is compliant with all the requirements
  • Interact with Mexico Regulators (CNBV / Banxico) and other internal stakeholders to provide necessary information about Nubank's Credit portfolio
  • Support on reporting to guarantee effective communication to senior stakeholders regarding Mexico portfolio credit risk
  • Propose and monitor KPIs and KRIs to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and to explain changes in Nubank credit risk portfolio
  • Propose, review, and monitor credit risk appetite, tolerance, and capacity
  • Review & Challenge the business models to find enhancement opportunities
  • Understand financial metrics related to profitability/earnings and costs
  • Review and challenge credit policies defined by first-line

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Math, Statistics, Physics or related fields
  • 6+ years of experience in managing Credit Risk either by working in the first line or the second line of defense, or even implementing credit risk-related projects (must have)

Analytical, problem-solving and passionate about manipulating data in order to learn from it

  • Knowledge of Credit Risk Models and Policies (Valuation/Risk-Returns), KPIs, ERM Requirements
  • Deep Knowledge of the regulatory framework, including credit risk classification, provisions/ECL
  • Good communication skills (having the habit of presenting projects to Sr Stakeholders will be considered an advantage)
  • Adaptability to dynamic way of working/short-term deliverables
  • Advanced or Fluent English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in Expected Credit Loss models/PD/EAD/LGD, financial forecasting, and International Standards (such as IFRS9, Basel II, Basel III)
  • Good coding skills (SQL, Python, Scala, or other similar programming languages), have experience with large amounts of data
  • Great toolbox of modeling or Machine Learning techniques
