About the role
  • As a Privacy Governance Specialist, you will support the operational excellence of Nubank’s global privacy governance program. You will contribute to bridging the gap between high-level strategy and execution, supporting the Privacy Program Manager’s roadmap, ensuring that our commitment to data protection is a scalable reality across all our business units and countries.
  • Protecting personal data is fundamental to maintaining the fanatical trust our customers place in us. This role ensures that as Nubank scales globally, our privacy governance program remains agile, compliant with applicable regulations (such as LGPD and GDPR), and deeply integrated into our daily operations.
  • You will support in identifying and closing gaps in our personal data processing practices, to protect customers’ trust and ensure regulatory compliance, while minimizing bureaucracy, enabling our Business Units to innovate fast without compromising on privacy and data protection. You will also play a critical role in our Privacy Incident Response, Record of Processing Activities and Privacy Risk Management fronts.
You'll be responsible for
  • Working closely with the Privacy Program Manager to ensure efficient coordination and clear communication of privacy governance requirements, action plans and projects, to report privacy governance matters to the DPO;
  • Designing and implementing projects to address gaps in our privacy governance program, in alignment with the Privacy Program Manager’s roadmap, and coordinating implementation across BUs;
  • Conducting the mapping of data processing activities and flows for the Record of Processing Activities (RoPA) in alignment with Nubank’s methodologies, and defining strategies to increase efficiency and minimize bureaucracy in the mapping process;
  • Monitoring registered privacy risks and the status of approved action plans, carrying out FUPs with the action plan owners and reporting escalations to the Privacy Program Manager if needed;
  • Maintaining and enhancing how Nubank handles data subject rights requests;
  • Assessing third parties (vendors) in privacy due diligences, as well as enhancing the due diligence process;
  • Proposing training and awareness on Privacy topics, identifying relevant knowledge gaps in specific Business Units and proposing the training and awareness approach to solve the gap;
  • Coordinating, participating in and improving the privacy incident response process, which covers all countries where Nubank operates and all types of Data Subjects, such as customers, prospects, employees, and candidates;
  • Collaborating with the Privacy Program Manager to create, improve and track privacy controls and policies to ensure adherence to Privacy Frameworks and data protection laws and regulations;
  • Responding to data subject rights requests arriving through the applicable Data Protection Authority and supporting with responding to regulatory inquiries;
  • Supporting the definition and monitoring of KPIs / privacy metrics to measure impact and report trends regarding Nu’s Privacy Governance Program;
  • Documenting processes and procedures from Nu’s Privacy Governance Program.
We are looking for a person who has
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to navigate through regulatory requirements from multiple jurisdictions and support in translating them into global controls, flows and procedures.
  • The ability to act as an enabler, not a blocker, by educating partners on how to ensure privacy and innovation coexist.
  • At least 5 years of PQE working in privacy governance, or combined PQE with privacy governance, risk management, internal audit, data protection or related functions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in both Portuguese and English is a must.
  • Project management and implementation and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Proven work experience with privacy governance and corporate risk management methodologies.
  • Proven work experience with productivity and efficiency tools, such as Jira, Confluence, ability to use Slack and Google Workspace tools to work asynchronously, experience using AI tools to enhance efficiency in different work fronts.
  • Hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Able to work autonomously, not afraid to ask questions, and deliver according to alignments.
  • Nice to have: privacy certifications, such as CIPP, CIPM or EXIN DPO.
