Engineering Manager - Onboarding Journeys
Stripe
Engineering Manager, Onboarding Journeys
About the team
The Onboarding Journeys team builds onboarding flows from some of Stripe’s highest-leverage use cases. The default onboarding flow covers our core journeys well, but we need more focused flows for workflows like cross-border onboarding, onboarding for publicly traded companies and government entities, and onboarding a new account into Organizations. This team identifies opportunities to build reusable onboarding flows for high-leverage segments, and then it designs and builds those flows end-to-end.
This is a pivotal moment for Onboarding, because as Stripe’s scope has grown, so has Onboarding’s scope. Onboarding now means navigating KYC forms, fraud and credit risk flows, supportability checks, and more. We’re building brand new AI-powered experiences to reinvent onboarding, turning it from a series of forms into a product in its own right. Our goal is to build the master key to unlock access to the world’s best financial services, and set a new bar for the industry on how good onboarding can be.
What you’ll do

- Build a team culture of high agency, fast execution, and the psychological safety to always have “the real conversation”
- Define day-to-day processes that set the team up for success in planning and execution
- Learn from users often — sometimes by speaking with them directly and sometimes by metrics and indirect means — distill takeaways, and continually bring a deep awareness of user experience into the roadmap
- Recruit and develop excellent engineers and coach them in doing the best work of their careers so far
