Hi! 👋 I'm George, Sr. Director of Engineering at WeTravel.

As a lifelong traveler, I believe travel is a force for good and mutual understanding. I joined WeTravel to empower the people who make it happen. My team builds the foundational technology that allows organizers to turn their vision into a magical reality for their clients.

About WeTravel

Think of the most incredible adventures imaginable: trekking to Machu Picchu, cycling through Tuscany, or going on a safari in Kenya. For years, the small businesses and local experts who run these trips have been stuck using messy spreadsheets, countless emails, and complicated payment methods.

WeTravel is changing that. We build the tools that empower any entrepreneur to launch and grow their own travel business. Our platform makes it simple for organizers to create beautiful trip proposals, securely process payments, and manage their customers, so they can focus on what they do best: creating amazing experiences.

This is one of the last great frontiers of travel to come online, and as the category leader, we are at the forefront of this change. Last year alone, our platform was trusted by 8,000 organizers to lead over a million travelers on adventures in 150+ countries. Now, we’re on an exciting journey to grow from powering $1B to $10B in travel experiences per year.

We believe that every trip, when done right, can be a force for good - and we’re building the engine to make more of that possible.

What’s the role

Our organizers win travelers by creating beautiful proposals and frictionless booking pages that help the travelers find the trips of their dreams.

WeTravel Itineraries give organizers the tools to create proposals, detailed itineraries and high-conversion booking experience, while giving them time back to grow and operate their business.

We’re now looking for a highly experienced Engineering Manager to join and help us and take the Itinerary team through the next levels of growth to become the best platform to advertise organized trips, by leading the team to expand in several areas:

  • An integrated planning experience that helps find the right resources and suppliers to create the right package, with the right price for the right travelers.

  • AI-enabled tools to imagine and create new trips and itineraries, create world class content and optimize their sales funnel

  • Tools & integrations that help organizers publish and promote their content on the most impactful platforms & channels

Our success in this domain will drive the growth of our organizers - by giving them better sales conversion & extending their reach to new customers.

What you’ll do day-to-day

  • Lead a team between 6 and 10 engineers.

  • Drive the evolution of how organizers build, present and sell their trips - creating the best sales channel for our organizers.

  • Partner with our Product and Business teams to define the strategy and execution plan for our Itinerary platform.

  • Lead the long-term technical strategy for the domain.

  • Lead and grow a high-performing team of engineers

  • Foster a culture of ownership, excellence and collaboration.

How we work

  • We’re focused on the impact. We don’t subscribe to any one framework or execution ideology, and we adapt based on what’s impactful.

  • We’re using the latest hardware and constantly on the look out for better tools & ways to work

  • Stack: We’re using React/ReactNative/TypeScript + Ruby on Rails and Python Microservices on Kubernetes. We also use and love MongoDB, MySQL, Postgres, Snowflake and we’re working with the major LLM providers.

You should apply if you have

Basic qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering and/or product development prior to becoming a manager

  • 4+ years of experience as leading engineering teams as a manager

  • Ability to problems solve and make complex decisions with incomplete information in ambiguous situations and environments

  • Strong planning, prioritization and organizational skills.

  • Great interpersonal skills, deep technical ability, and a track record of successful execution in product development at cloud-scale.

  • Strong track record in leading complex software projects from inception to delivery
