Hi! 👋 I'm Kelly, Manager of People Operations and based in Amsterdam 🇳🇱.

At WeTravel, we see People Operations as a product team focused on building scalable People solutions. This is a pivotal moment for our team: earlier this year, we opened our Sydney office, and our global team is growing fast.

As the first-ever People Ops Specialist in Sydney, you'll be at the heart of building our office — from shaping how People Operations runs locally to supporting recruitment, managing onboarding for new team members, and keeping the office running smoothly. You'll also collaborate closely with our global People Ops team to ensure alignment and share best practices across offices.

At WeTravel, we empower multi-day and group travel businesses with a comprehensive booking and payments platform. That mission starts with our people — and our team plays a critical role in making sure we bring in the right ones to help us grow, evolve, and succeed together.

What you'll do

The responsibilities below outline a typical time allocation, although they may shift from time to time as our team and business evolve.

People Operations - 50%

  • Be the go-to person for day-to-day HR support, answering questions and guiding employees through policies, processes, and everything in between.

  • Manage employee life-cycle activities, including contract changes, documentation, and performance support.

  • Ensure our practices align with Australian employment requirements (Fair Work Act, NES, WHS).

  • Keep our HRIS accurate and up to date, and support reporting that helps us make great people decisions.

  • Contribute to People team programs that strengthen culture, engagement, and communication.

Talent Acquisition - 15%

  • Partner with hiring managers to understand role needs and help shape thoughtful, inclusive hiring strategies.

  • Lead posting, sourcing, screening, and candidate communications to ensure a smooth, positive recruitment experience.

  • Coordinate interviews and maintain strong relationships with candidates.

  • Support branding efforts that showcase who we are and why great people join our team.

Onboarding - 10%

  • Prepare everything our new hires need—contracts, compliance checks, equipment, and a warm welcome.

  • Facilitate engaging local onboarding sessions and ensure new joiners feel set up for success from day one.

  • Gather feedback and continually improve our approach to onboarding new people into the organisation.

Global People Operations Back - 10%

  • Jump in to support our global People Ops colleagues when workloads peak or projects ramp up.

  • Contribute to shared processes, documentation, and systems across regions.

  • Help us stay aligned as one global People team.

Office Management - 15%

  • Keep the office welcoming, organised, and running smoothly, from supplies and vendor coordination to team event logistics.

  • Support work health and safety practices and help maintain a comfortable workplace for everyone on-site.

What you'll bring

  • 3+ years of experience in HR generalist or People Operations roles.

  • Solid understanding of Australian employment law and HR fundamentals.
Experience supporting recruitment and a passion for creating an excellent candidate experience.

  • Genuine care for people, excellent communication skills, and a helpful, approachable working style.

  • Strong organisation, reliability, and ownership of your work.

  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with colleagues across different time zones.

  • Experience with HRIS platforms and ATS tools is a plus.

Why you'll love working with us

  • You’ll be a key part of our expansion in Australia and play a crucial role in shaping our growth.

  • You’ll join a global People team that supports one another and celebrates progress.
You’ll contribute to meaningful projects that improve employee experience across the organisation.

  • You’ll have space to develop your skills, bring new ideas, and make a real impact.

Benefits

  • Generous "Time to Recharge" policy — enjoy unlimited paid time off to rest, recharge, and show up as your best self.

  • Amsterdam Program – visit us in Amsterdam (HQ) for 2-4 weeks every year, staying in one of our WeTravel apartments.
