About the Role
The Software Development Engineer will work with our Core Trade engineering team, in our Institutional Broker Dealer. You’ll build an Ultra-low latency, high throughput, trading system, and the tools needed to run and democratize investing, globally! You’ll work with cutting-edge technologies to re-engineer our mission-critical trading stack to be industrial-grade. We aim to utilize our fintech prowess, and our exchange memberships, to deliver internet-scale trading applications to the floor of the exchanges. You’ll be hands-on working across our Core Trade team, working directly with the business, Product, Quants, and our Trade Desk. The proper candidate will have experience building applications and working in a highly-available and scalable environment. We seek someone who has exceptional attention to detail and values simplicity over complexity - both in code and communication. You should be opinionated about what you build and offer constructive criticism on things you didn’t.
What You'll Do
- Responsible for working with multiple stakeholders, including Trade desks, Quants, Product managers, Risk, and Compliance.
- Responsible for the technical design and delivery of new Java projects using exciting, cutting-edge technology
- Ensure that solutions are meeting DriveWealth's best practices in design and architecture
- Collaborate with other team leaders in design and integration
- Work with the Broker-Dealer Operations teams to support and enhance the trading system
- Set goals with your team, and collaborate in setting organizational goals
What You'll Need
- Ability to collaborate horizontally, and cross-functionally, throughout DriveWealth
- Experience with low latency high throughput distributed systems
- Experience with multithreading and concurrency in Java
- Knowledge of Java fundamentals, data structures, and best practices for modern software development
- Must understand how to write effective unit and integration tests with Gherkin syntax
- Experience with a 24x7, highly-available architecture
- Strong technical writing skills
- Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical concepts and designs to a diverse audience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Python scripting for the automation of tasks
Nice To Have, But Not Required
- Experience working with React and Typescript
- Understanding of JMS and message brokers such as Kafka and ActiveMQ
- Experience with Aeron or other point-to-point network communication
- Experience with POSTGRES database environments
- Experience with Amazon Web Services
- Experience in brokerage, fintech, e-commerce, or analytics companies

Compensation
Compensation package offerings are based on candidate experience and technical qualifications, as it relates to the role. These are identified and determined throughout your interviewing experience.
