Researcher, Core Product
Figma
Figma is growing our team of passionate people on a mission to make design accessible to all. Born on the Web, Figma helps entire product teams brainstorm, design and build better products — from start to finish. Whether it’s consolidating tools, simplifying workflows, or collaborating across teams and time zones, Figma makes the design process faster, more efficient, and fun while keeping everyone on the same page. From great products to long-lasting companies, we believe that nothing great is made alone—come make with us!
The Figma Research team is hiring multiple seasoned researchers to support our award winning products and actively craft and execute research to drive scale, tap new opportunities, and ensure Figma continues pushing innovation in design and production tooling. Because Figma is used by so many of the leading software companies around the world, you will be uniquely positioned to advance the state of how UX design works across the entire industry.
The ideal candidate brings a deep passion for research and design, laddering key user needs to critical design decisions and broader business impact. Working hand in hand with Product, Design, and Engineering, you will tackle our most high impact problems, influencing company strategy for both the short- and long-term.
What you’ll do at Figma:
- Leverage your product mindset and human centered approach to identify actionable opportunities and materially influence the vision and strategy for Figma’s core products (Editor, FigJam, Figma Slides, and/or Dev Tools)
- Partner closely with product leads and become an expert in the core creation features of our products and the ecosystems our users design for, such as web, mobile, and desktop apps
- Break down complex business challenges into clear research plans; own the end to end research process and leverage strong storytelling skills to deliver meaningful impact to Figma’s businesses
- Translate key user needs into tangible user flows and actionable product decisions, directly impacting product roadmaps
- Proactively identify and prioritize research needs and potential problem areas for the product pillar(s) you support
- Advocate for the role of Research as a strategic partner in the business process
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- 7+ years of experience in UX research or user insights at a high growth B2B SaaS company
- Expertise in utilizing a variety of qualitative research methodologies (e.g. interviews, focus groups, co-design sessions) to address product challenges spanning from opportunity identification, concept testing, to feature iterations.
- Demonstrated success in identifying assumptions that underpin key challenges, prioritizing the most critical assumptions, and creating right sized research approaches to test those critical assumptions.
- Ability to balance speed and rigor, pivot directions, seek out new perspectives, receive feedback, and seek solutions in creative ways.
- A proven track record of gaining buy in from executive stakeholders and cross disciplinary partners, transcending mere research mechanics and findings to articulate a larger user story, and the “so what” to inspire action
While not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
- 3+ years in product design, human centered design, user centric product management and/or product development
- A familiarity and depth of experience using Figma’s products
- Ability to balance user research, strategy, business insights, team input, and intuition in decision-making processes
- Proficiency in quantitative research methodologies (e.g. surveys, data analysis), seamlessly tying quantitative data to qualitative insights
