Everyone is welcome at Handshake. We know diverse teams build better products and we are committed to creating an inclusive culture built on a foundation of respect for all individuals. We strongly encourage candidates from non-traditional backgrounds, historically marginalized or underrepresented groups to apply.

Your impact

We’re looking for a hands-on, adaptable Growth Marketing Specialist to lead student growth in Germany, with a strong focus on in-person events. This is a generalist marketing role that spans the full funnel, from awareness and engagement to conversion, across events, email, paid media and organic channels.

You’ll take full ownership of campaigns, managing everything from creative and logistics to content development and agency coordination. It’s an ideal role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys variety in their day-to-day, and knows how to connect with students in meaningful ways.

Your role

Events and Activations

  • Plan and run student-focused events across German campuses to drive sign-ups and engagement
  • Manage all event logistics including procurement, itineraries, staffing, set-up, breakdown and execution
  • Build relationships with university contacts to secure access and increase on-campus visibility
  • Work closely to develop partnerships with other likeminded student brands
  • Report on event performance in real time and share insights to improve future activations

Channel Marketing (Email, Paid, Organic)

  • Deliver targeted email campaigns to engage and convert students
  • Support paid media efforts by coordinating assets, messaging and local insights
  • Develop and manage organic social and content strategies tailored to the student audience in Germany

General Marketing Execution

  • Oversee daily campaign tasks including liaising with agencies, writing copy, coordinating media and tracking performance
  • Work with design partners to create student-friendly digital and print materials
  • Stay close to student trends and help identify new opportunities, whether through partnerships, influencers or direct feedback from the ground

Your experience

  • Five or more years of experience in marketing, events or growth roles, ideally in student or youth-focused organisations
  • Strong organisational skills and a track record of managing multiple campaigns or events at once
  • Confident communicator in both English and German, with a sharp sense of how to tailor messaging for local audiences
  • Comfortable working independently and navigating university settings with ease
  • A proactive self-starter who can thrive in a cross-functional and fast-moving team
  • Comfortable travelling on a regular basis within Germany.

Bonus areas of expertise

  • Experience with student marketing or a strong understanding of German university campuses
  • Ability to drive vans and handle event setups
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Hands-on experience with email marketing platforms
