About Us:
Notion helps you build beautiful tools for your life’s work. In today's world of endless apps and tabs, Notion provides one place for teams to get everything done, seamlessly connecting docs, notes, projects, calendar, and email—with AI built in to find answers and automate work. Millions of users, from individuals to large organizations like Toyota, Figma, and OpenAI, love Notion for its flexibility and choose it because it helps them save time and money.
In-person collaboration is essential to Notion's culture. We require all team members to work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, our designated Anchor Days. Certain teams or positions may require additional in-office workdays.
About the role:
Notion is currently at an inflection point where we’re evolving from a loved product for teams to an essential AI platform for some of the world’s largest customers. In this role you’ll work at the intersection of cutting edge AI capabilities and real world enterprise problems to shape what AI-native productivity looks like for our customers.
In this role you’d be a founding member of a new team whose culture you’ll get to help build from the ground up. Your initial focus will be building custom AI solutions on top of our most advanced AI systems with our largest Enterprise customers and design partners. Over time we expect this role and team to be the frontlines of our product development, working with our most advanced customers to build for and with them and then bringing that knowledge back to Notion’s AI platform.
Skills You'll Need to Bring:
Customer-facing - You can conduct discovery interviews, navigate customer stakeholder relationships and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences. You're comfortable spending significant time working directly with customers and collaborating closely with both our Go-to-Market teams (Sales, Solutions, Customer Success) and EPD (Engineering, Product, Design) to drive customer success.
Strong engineering fundamentals - You have 4-8 years of experience as a Software Engineer or an equivalent role at a technology company and can write production-quality code, conduct system design, and make sound technical decisions.
AI tooling and automation - You're passionate about building LLM-based tools and you’ve built custom integrations or workflow automations that have been game changing. You're excited to co-create the next generation of AI-native products with our customers
Systems thinking - You can analyze a business and translate it into the right data model, ontology, and technical architecture. You understand how to map real-world processes into databases, relationships, and AI workflows without extensive hand-holding.
High agency and comfort with ambiguity - You have a healthy disregard for the status quo and can figure things out independently. You're excited about defining a new role and function, not just executing within an established one. You can handle the ambiguity of prototyping solutions before clear patterns emerge.
You don’t need to be an AI expert, but you’re curious and willing to adopt AI tools to work smarter and deliver better results
Nice to Haves:
Forward Deployed Engineer experience - You've worked as a Forward Deployed Engineer or related role in in similar environments. You've built tailored solutions for enterprise customers and helped them succeed with complex technical products.
Deep familiarity with Notion - You already understand and love Notion as a product. You've built sophisticated workspaces, understand databases and relations, and have opinions about how Notion should evolve for enterprise use cases.
-
Developer API experience - You've built systems and tools that other engineers use. You understand how to design APIs, abstractions, and developer experiences. You think in terms of scalability, maintainability, and enabling others.
We hire talented and passionate people from a variety of backgrounds because we want our global employee base to represent the wide diversity of our customers. If you’re excited about a role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every bullet point listed in the job description, we still encourage you to apply. If you’re a builder at heart, share our company values, and enthusiastic about making software toolmaking ubiquitous, we want to hear from you.
