Build something people love
Wealthsimple is on a mission to help everyone achieve financial freedom by reimagining what it means to manage your money. Using smart technology, we take financial services that are often confusing and expensive and make them transparent and low-cost for everyone. We’re the largest fintech company in Canada, with 3+ million users who trust us with more than $100 billion in assets. And we’re just getting started.
We’re looking for someone who thinks big, sweats the small stuff and keeps things simple. You’ll join a high-bar, fast-paced team where people are trusted to own their work, communicate openly, and ship things that improve our clients’ lives. Collaboration, humility, and an obsession over quality are how we get stuff done.
About the team:
Wealthsimple Operations Associates own and scale processes intelligently, with analytics, grit, and grace. We manage billions of dollars, so the stakes are high. We want to deliver extraordinary experiences that meet our client's on-demand expectations, while being a compliance leader. At Wealthsimple, we are maker-owners, we believe that simple is better, and we do what's right for each client.
About the role:
As an Associate in the Brokerage Operations Reconciliations team, you will be handling daily and monthly reconciliations across our depositories. You marry your client-first approach with an acute eye for detail, ensuring accuracy and alignment when discrepancies arise. You will seek out opportunities to identify solutions, improve processes, and evolve our team’s human-first culture, while gaining exposure across our entire Brokerage Operations department. Your impact will enable you to be a key part of our Reconciliations team and be hugely important to our clients, empowering Canadians moving closer toward financial freedom!
What We’re Looking For on an Application:
We’re looking for someone who loves making complex systems work better. This isn’t an accounting role — it’s about reconciling trades, equities, and settlements that keep our brokerage running smoothly. You have a background in business or finance (CSC, CPH, or DFOL are a plus), 1–2 years in brokerage operations or trade support, and you know your way around SQL and Google App Script. You’re curious, analytical, and proactive about improving processes — using data, clear thinking, and care to make things simpler and smarter.
At Wealthsimple, the best applications show how you think and communicate — how you take complex workflows and make them simple, how you use data to back your improvements, how you approach your work with care and how you hit your key metrics. If you’re someone who’s analytical, proactive, and passionate about making operations smarter and smoother, we’d love to hear from you.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Core Reconciliation & Risk Management: Own a variety of critical trade and position reconciliations, proactively escalating to various upstream teams such as settlements, corporate actions, trade desk, securities lending to resolve discrepancies and mitigate risk
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with a cross-functional Operational team, ensuring accuracy of our books of record
- Settlement & Clearance Expertise: Cultivate a deep knowledge on the settlement and clearance of equities through CDS and DTC
- Process Evolution & Adaptability: Adapt to our evolving service and build process to support the evolution of the team
- Technical Analysis & Optimization: Utilize SQL, Data and other AI tooling to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions that improve the efficiency of our back office operation teams
What you’ll bring:
- Previous working experience at a broker-dealer handling back office reconciliation responsibilities for options, securities operations and securities lending programs (IIROC-regulated dealer is preferred). Bonus points for working with precious metals!
- Strong experience with Excel/Google Sheets, plus experience with programming such as SQL, Appscript/Javascript to identify opportunities for process improvements
- You're passionate about the fintech and alternative investment space.
- Natural curiosity that unearths inefficiencies in processes before they arise, and can clearly articulate the story behind that.
- You're a detail-oriented problem-solver who thrives under pressure, expertly managing multiple time-sensitive tasks while quickly adapting to challenges in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- You excel at communication and collaboration, working effectively with cross-functional teams and partners.
- Have completed or are pursuing industry courses (CSC, DFOL etc)
