About the Role
We’re looking for a Payments Regulatory Compliance Manager to join our growing Compliance team. This role will support the Director of Payment Operations & Compliance and focus on the end-to-end management of compliance programs tied to our Banking, Credit Card, and Prepaid products. You’ll oversee Wealthsimple’s compliance with payment regulations including the Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA) and Visa/Mastercard network rules, working closely with our Product, Legal, and Operations teams to ensure scalable and compliant launches.
This is a new role created as part of the Payments team restructure. You’ll be responsible for building sustainable programs, enabling internal alignment, and using tools like Notebook LM to help automate and accelerate execution.
Responsibilities
Lead the implementation and management of compliance programs aligned with RPAA, card network requirements (e.g., Visa), and relevant lending licensing or registration needs
Oversee day-to-day controls and monitoring for the Banking and Credit Card compliance programs
Serve as the internal subject-matter expert for payments regulation, licensing, and risk controls related to safeguarding, operational risk, and program governance
Lead to internal training and awareness to strengthen payment regulatory knowledge across teams
Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to embed compliance into product development and lifecycle management
Draft and maintain policies, procedures, and internal guidance for applicable compliance requirements
Support regulatory reporting and audit readiness, including regulator inquiries, risk assessments, and network attestations
Identify and triage compliance risks related to payment program expansions or enhancements
Leverage automation tools (e.g., Notebook LM) to streamline program execution and reduce overhead

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scale programs efficiently and support junior team member enablement
Ideal Candidate
5+ years of experience in payments compliance, regulatory risk, or operations within fintech, banking, or payment networks
Strong understanding of Canadian payments regulation (RPAA, FINTRAC, FCAC, OSFI) and Visa/Mastercard network rules
Experience working with US bank sponsorship programs/ US payment systems and relevant regulations (e.g., BSA, FinCEN, CFPB, Nacha, RTP)
Experience supporting card or prepaid programs, PSP licensing, or retail payment frameworks
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building new processes from the ground up
Excellent communication and project management skills, with experience working cross-functionally across Product, Legal, and Operations
Familiarity with compliance automation and tooling (e.g., GRC tools, Notebook LM, or custom-built dashboards)
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an eye for both risk and scalability
Nice to Have
Experience working on regulatory submissions (e.g., RPAA registration, Visa program changes)
Experience introducing AI workflows to Compliance programs
Familiarity with internal governance programs and audit workflows
Background in launching new fintech products or payment rails
Experience working with processor platforms or integrations
